Following the launch of World Avocado Month in London, Paris and Berlin, the WAO has also chosen Bilbao to launch its campaign.

The World Avocado Month campaign promotes the avocado’s nutritional qualities and the benefits of introducing it into our everyday diet. As the avocado season comes into full swing, June is the most appropriate month to let the whole world know and experience the qualities of this fruit.

Xavier Equihua, the WAO’s Chief Executive Officer, will host the presentation of the campaign’s launch at the prestigious La Ribera Bilbao restaurant on 12th June. , Mr. Equihua will also be introducing the Spanish edition of the 100-page cookbook ‘The Wonderful World of Cooking with Avocados‘. Readers will be able to find more than 35 easy recipes, helpful advice and tips about how to store, peel and cut avocados. This cookbook will be readily available for all avocado fans to download as an e-book.

The presentation will be attended by several industry representatives, national and international media, food publications and influencers, who will be invited to enjoy a gourmet lunch featuring avocados.

The restaurant La Ribera Bilbao will become the location for the ‘Avocado Market Party’ where several craftsmen from Vizcaya will showcase their avocado creations, made specially for the occasion: Basque pintxos, home-brewed beer, confectionery, smoothies, cocktails, Italian ice-cream, and many others…

This campaign, hosted by the WAO, Eroski and Fribasa, will be promoted at the retailers’ stores all over Spain, where customers will find discounts and exclusive offers. The hero offer will be a prize draw for an electric Renault Zoe car: any Eroski Club fidelity card holder will be able to take part simply by purchasing €10 worth of avocados between 31st May and 30th June.
